Arappu Hair Wash Powder - Albizia amara

Albizia (Bot. Albizia amara) the dominant canopy trees in the Central Deccan Plateau Dry Deciduous Forests ecoregion of India. It is also found in the hills of Western Ghats and the Godavari area, the Javadi Hills of Eastern Ghats in South India. The seeds are regarded as astringent and used in the treatment of piles, diarrhea and gonorrhea. The flowers are used as a remedy for cough, ulcers, dandruff and malaria. It is reported that washing hair with this Albzia leaves, popularly known as Arappu podi in Tamil, renders it black, shiny and silky and it serves to cool down the body.
